I Am The One

Last weekend, I hosted our year-end journaling workshop, and as I reflect on it, I’m still filled with a sense of gratitude and awe. The room was charged with energy—people breathing, journaling, sharing stories, and affirming themselves in ways that were both tender and bold. And, of course, there was homemade ginger beer, a staple that always seems to tie these gatherings together in the most comforting way.

One of my favorite traditions at these workshops is a simple but powerful one. Right at the entrance, there’s a dry-erase easel that invites guests to write an affirmation. Beside it, a stack of cards, each with the sentence starter:
“Today, I choose to believe…”

Guests take a moment to fill in the card with their affirmation before posting it on the doorframe. By the end of the day, the door becomes a mosaic of intentions—words that speak to courage, hope, and the power of choice.

As I read through the affirmations later, one card stood out:
“I am the one.”

In those four words, I heard a powerful declaration. It’s simple, but so profound: “I am the one.” It doesn’t need to be explained. It’s a statement of ownership, of stepping into who you are and what you’re capable of. It’s a reminder that we don’t need anyone else’s approval to show up fully for ourselves.

So often, we find ourselves hesitating. We doubt our abilities, question whether we’re ready, or wonder if we’re enough. But what if, instead of waiting for permission or waiting for the perfect moment, we simply said:
“I am the one.”

The beauty of this affirmation is that it allows us to trust ourselves and our journey, even in uncertainty. It challenges us to take ownership of the roles we are meant to play, even when we don’t have all the answers.

Reflecting on the workshop, I saw how brave it was for everyone to lean into that energy—to show up not just for the space but for themselves. They embodied that spirit of affirmation, even when it felt hard or unclear.

So today, I invite you to carry that affirmation with you:
“I am the one.”
The one who is ready.
The one who is capable.
The one who is enough.

Whether you say it out loud, write it down, or just hold it in your heart, let it be a reminder that you already possess everything you need to step into your life with confidence and trust. You are the one—always have been, always will be.
